JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of a Project Manager.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Projects, the Project Manager is a vital member of our team at OPG. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of projects related to our $1.4 billion 2025-2031 Business Plan, as well as the 40-year capital program aimed at replacing and upgrading Turbine-Generator equipment. As the Project Leader, you will have the exciting opportunity to lead the revitalization of OPG's Hydro Electric generators within one of our operational stations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects or project packages through all phases, from initiation to closeout.
Apply approved project management processes, including governance, phase-gating, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, reporting, communications, and risk management.
Ensure project objectives are delivered safely and effectively within established quality, budget, and schedule targets.
Support project planning and approvals by contributing to scope reviews, constructability assessments, business case submissions, and funding requests.
Coordinate and lead meetings with designers, suppliers, construction teams, operations, and other stakeholders to monitor requirements and progress.
Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, agencies, field construction, and operations teams.
Manage project issues, changes, reporting, and contract administration to ensure deliverables are achieved in accordance with approved processes.
Stay informed of industry best practices, construction methods, project management advancements, and relevant corporate procedures, applying knowledge to support project success.
QUALIFICATIONS
4-year university degree, Engineering, Science, Business, Economics or other related field.*
6+ years of experience in project management, specifically, in developing project requirements and plans; preparing cost estimates; participating in contract bidding and award processes, managing projects and contracts in execution phase, and managing project closeout.
Heavy industrial construction experience, particularly within the power generation industry, is considered a strong asset.
Strong knowledge of equipment, processes, and operations within hydroelectric generating stations.
Proven experience managing project scope, schedule, cost, quality, and competing priorities in a complex environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage increasingly complex projects involving multiple contracts, stakeholders, and schedule constraints.
Strong problem-solving, cost accounting, forecasting, and project management skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a flexible hybrid office environment.
