In this role, you will collaborate closely with strategy, business development, and the financial modelling team to evaluate investment opportunities, structure commercial arrangements, and support key transactions particularly in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), partnerships, and joint ventures. You will play a critical role in driving strategic development, evaluating investment alternatives, and executing commercial initiatives.

Reporting to the Director, Investment Strategy and New Growth, the Senior Manager is responsible for driving long-term sustainable revenue growth by identifying, assessing, and advancing strategic investment and partnership opportunities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Evaluate corporate strategic developments related to nuclear, hydro, renewables, energy storage and/or other growth areas (within OPG and our subsidiaries), integrating business intelligence, market insights, and risk considerations into investment strategies.
  • Lead the assessment of new investment and partnership opportunities, working closely with the financial modelling team to ensure robust financial evaluation, sensitivity testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Synthesize financial and strategic inputs to develop clear investment recommendations for senior management and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present investment cases to the Investment Committee, articulating strategic fit, commercial structure, projected returns, and key risks.
  • Provide ongoing stewardship of the investment portfolio, monitoring the performance of active investments and partnerships, identifying emerging risks, and recommending mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Provide end-to-end commercial support, including the structuring of deals, negotiation of partnership agreements, and coordination of internal and external advisors to advance transactions.
  • Lead or support the negotiation of commercial terms for investment opportunities, joint ventures, partnerships, and other strategic agreements.
  • Develop and manage key external relationships relevant to commercial negotiations and investment activities.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure alignment with financial, legal, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with business units and Corporate Strategy to assess new technologies, market entry strategies, and long-term business development opportunities aligned with OPG's enterprise growth plan.
  • Contribute to briefing reports, market research, and strategy documents to support executive decision-making.
  • Drive collaboration between the Business Strategy, Commercial Management, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure seamless execution of investment and partnership initiatives
