JOB DUTIES:
Assist in monitoring and analyzing ERCOT's wholesale market. Generate and maintain market reports per requests and protocols. Assist in providing technical assistance to Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), industry and stakeholder groups. Recommend, review and test proposed changes to the ERCOT wholesale market systems and design. Help ensure all wholesale market activities have been successfully completed per protocols. Work closely with Market Participants to resolve issues concerning wholesale market and grid operations. Work closely with both internal and external stakeholders concerning issues related to the wholesale market construct within the ERCOT Protocols. Help ensure consistency and stability of the market and provide engineering and analytical support for the wholesale market and grid operations. Prepare and validate models of the electric power systems. Monitor system conditions and market performance. Maintain current knowledge of competitive energy markets and trends. Apply principles of electricity market theory to gauge market behavior and outcomes. Investigate methods for data analysis to develop improved analytical tools. Propose and create new solutions for data acquisition as well as test and validate changes to market applications. Perform engineering studies using the ERCOT network models to analyze conditions and events on the system. Generate and review presentation materials for stakeholders, industry, and ERCOT board meetings. Guide projects as assigned by management. Use expert judgment and experience to provide remedies for the market participant disputes within the ERCOT market as well as communicate frequently and upon own initiative to stakeholders regarding the application of protocols. Provide recommendations regarding issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices. Mentor lower-level professionals and support employees. Serve as department representative on assigned projects. Serve as subject matter expert. May telecommute up to 3 days from within the State of Texas.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
MINIMUM EXPERINCE:
Five (5) years of experience as Power Systems Engineer, Operations Engineer, Power Systems Analyst, or Engineering Supervisor.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The required five (5) years of experience as Power Systems Engineer, Operations Engineer, Power Systems Analyst, or Engineering Supervisor must have been in the electric utility industry.
