WGL - Engineer I (Distribution)
Position Summary
The Engineer I is an entry level or junior position. The successful applicant will possess sound engineering principals' knowledge, good communication and analytic skills. Depending on the position responsibilities may include supporting the efforts of: building and maintaining of WG transmission and distribution network models, load demand analysis that can impact the WG system, and providing support to other special projects such as the Contingency Plan & 10 Year Plan, 24-hour On-Call availability for unplanned emergency system problems, supporting the design efforts for Distribution and Transmission pipeline installations or replacements, supporting the efforts to upgrade or replace critical gas processing and control equipment.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Assists higher-level engineers by performing design analyses and engineering calculations on portions of projects.
Develops and updates piping and equipment standards and specifications.
Manages specific projects of small scope, including financial planning, scheduling, equipment specification and procurement, contractor interfacing, development of construction and operating drawings and project documentation.
Performs Engineering analysis and equipment selection, piping design, etc. on selected portions of projects at the direction of Senior Engineers or the Production Manager.
Assists with the writing of engineering standards and specifications.
Develops and delivers presentations to report project statuses to various audiences.
Coordinates the collection of documentation for existing and future engineering pipeline projects
Stays current with new PHMSA regulations and advisory bulletins and assists with implementation of new requirements.
Performs project management tasks of project scheduling, scope of work development, and budget forecasting.
Supports Sr Compliance Specialist on reports, audits, and program reviews.
Utilizes and develops proficiency with DOT 192, OSHA PSM and other regulations in performance of work assignments
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's Degree Engineering required
0-2 Years Piping Systems Design, Industrial Process Equipment, System Modeling, Risk Analysis, Failure Analysis, or Construction preferred
Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners.
Demonstrated ability to logically analyze and solve narrowly defined business problems.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write and present logically and concisely to all levels within an organization.
Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, for data management, research, analysis, and reporting purposes.
Demonstrated ability to participate in a multiple person team on a college project prior to graduation.
