Description

Location: Philadelphia, PA metro and surrounding area. This role can be primarily remote with travel to our plants located in Pennsylvania.

Talen Energy is looking for a motivated and experienced labor and employment attorney to join our growing team. This role will support Talen Energy's business leaders and stakeholders in the management and handling of traditional labor and employment matters, including day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.

What will you own?

  • Provide labor and employment-related legal advice and counsel throughout the Talen organization.

  • Advise with respect to employee discipline, benefits, accommodation matters, FMLA, pay transparency laws and affirmative action plans.

  • Defend and counsel on labor-related arbitrations, grievances, NLRB/EEOC charges, and mediation.

  • Provide support at bargaining sessions and/or in the development of strategies and positions for bargaining.

  • Provide training on employment-related laws to managers and supervisors.

  • Responsible for reviewing employee grievances and working to resolve issues; meet with relevant employee(s) and supervisor(s); gather information and evaluate allegations.

  • Provide support to managers and supervisors on evaluating potential disciplinary matters, counseling employees, and developing performance improvement plans.

  • Research current labor and employee relations policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Negotiates/drafts employment-related documents.

  • Provide guidance to management on an assortment of issues including preservation of bargaining unit work issues and explanation of collective bargaining provisions, providing training on labor and employment topics, and administering human resources policies/procedures.

  • Oversees Talen's company-wide policies and drafts policies where necessary with input from business unit leaders.

  • Update and maintain confidential databases and labor and employment records.

What you have:

  • 5+ years of Labor and Employment Law experience, in a large law firm, Fortune 500 company, or a combination of law firm and in- house experience.

  • In addition to traditional employment law, experience with traditional labor law matters, including administration of collective bargaining agreements, arbitrations, and providing sound advice and counsel to business executives.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

  • Member of a bar in good standing

  • Incumbent must be comfortable utilizing and applying their legal skillset to diverse issues that will vary on a day-to-day basis depending on business unit leaders needs and the direction of management, while working in a team environment that prioritizes communication and flexibility.
