As a Utility Dispatcher, you will be the central point of communication for all dispatch functions for electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and revenue protection. In this role, you will operate a variety of communication equipment, including two-way radios, pagers, cell phones, and personal computers to receive, prioritize, schedule, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for service. The work that you will do is critical to keeping our crews and our community safe, ensuring that emergency incidents are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
***Due to the criticality of this position, the successful incumbent will be required to work shift work (days, swings, flex, and nights), weekends, and holidays to ensure coverage for the organization, as well as live within a 15-mile radius of our service territory.
How Will You Make an Impact...
- Contacting or dispatching crews, mobile units, or personnel to address repair, service, or emergency needs

Monitoring, managing, and coordinating traffic across radio channels

Assisting callers in emergency situations and accurately determining the location and nature of the emergency, while providing safety precautions prior to the technician's arrival

Monitoring dispatched units for completion of the task, emergency, or availability

Coordinating communications and information with field crews, mobile units, other personnel, and agencies

Responding to telephone requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance

Responding to inquiries from the public regarding activities or directing the public to the appropriate source

Preparing and maintaining records, logs, reports, and forms

Verifying access to buildings and facilities during swing shifts
Who You Are...

Relevant and progressively responsible experience in a dispatch environment (e.g., Utility, Emergency Response, Fire, Police, etc.)

Ability to make effective decisions under stressful conditions, and to remain calm during emergencies

Ability to receive, comprehend, and rapidly relay accurate information

Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot problems

Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required for this position
