Position Summary
This is the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy.
This position is located within Carolinas Distribution Reliability Engineering and is responsible for engineering and in-depth technical support in the areas of Distribution Protection Automation and Control (DPAC).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as the subject matter expert and providing technical support for all distribution protection projects and studies.
- Providing mentoring, technical guidance and engineering staff development to DPAC staff and Contract Engineering Support
- Development and oversight of work plans, processes, training, and best practices to implement DPAC programs or initiatives
- Review of protection studies by other staff for consistency and accuracy.
- Active participation on special assignments, including representation of DPAC among other organizations within Duke Energy
- Liaison to Distribution Standards, Transmission, Reliability, Capacity Planning, Distributed Generation, and Grid Management for protection- related issues
- Field support for distribution design organization to approve engineering design decisions
- Outage restoration support
