Responsibilities

Supports the safe, efficient and cost effective production of electric energy by supplying and preparing equipment, tools, material and protective devices needed for various jobs. Hauls and positions material and parts and assists as needed. Operates hand tools, power tools and forklift. Digs and back fills with hand tools.  Performs other duties as assigned. During the first 180 days of employment time will be split between classroom training and field work (i.e. helper or laborer types of work).

Must successfully complete all required training for Production Trainee within 6 months of hire. Reasonable and necessary overtime will be required.  Production Trainee may report to operations or maintenance based on projected plant needs

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Eighteen (18) years of age.
  2. Have a High school diploma or GED
  3. Possess a valid drivers license.
  4. Pass both the mechanical aptitude test (MASS) and the operations aptitude test (POSS).
  5. Pass a selection interview.
  6. Pass APS physical exam (drug test, etc.).

Training Objectives:

  1. Safety and plant orientation
  2. Power plant fundamentals (operations and maintenance)
  3. Basic computer skills
  4. Intro into the electric utility business
  5. Welding and cutting safety
  6. Mandatory training (includes LOTO, OSHA, environmental, safety, etc.)

Hands on Training:

  1. Hand on power tools
  2. Welding and cutting basics
  3. Forklift training
  4. Arial lift equipment (site specific)

Major Accountabilities:

  • Complies with safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Successfully completes all assigned training per the training plan.
  • Hauls and positions material and parts. Assists as needed.
  • Operates hand tools, power tools and forklift.
  • Digs and back fills with hand tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Upon successful completion of the Production Trainee Program (max. six months) candidate will be promoted to next classification in the line of progression.

After completion of the AO Training program, if there is not an Auxiliary Operator position open in your classification at the plant for which you completed your training program, you may be forced to go to other plants that have an open position.
