Job Description
The Public Policy Intern will support the Public Affairs team by assisting with content development, policy research, and monitoring legislative and regulatory developments that impact a natural gas utility. This internship provides hands-on exposure to corporate communications, government relations, and public policy within a dynamic energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on public policy, regulatory, and legislative issues affecting the natural gas and energy sector
- Monitor federal, state, and local legislative developments and summarize key insights
- Assist in drafting internal and external communications, including briefing materials, reports, and presentations
- Support the development of content for stakeholder engagement and public affairs initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic communications and policy-related projects
- Compile and analyze data to support policy recommendations and business decisions
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Interest in energy policy, utilities, and government affairs
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise summaries
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or coursework related to public policy, communications, or government affairs
- Familiarity with legislative tracking tools or policy research platforms
- Interest in sustainability, infrastructure, or energy regulation
