JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project Leader. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Projects, this position is responsible for leading and administering the coordination and execution of assigned projects within different portfolios. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Lead and coordinate all stages of project management in accordance with governance standards, from initiation to closeout.
  • Utilize approved processes for phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications, reporting, and risk management.
  • Perform project management activities ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets are met.
  • Contribute to project background information, scope reviews, and Business Case Submissions for approval and fund release.
  • Arrange and lead meetings with designers, suppliers, and construction teams, and maintain liaison with field operations.
  • Resolve issues to ensure project deliverables are achieved and manage changes to scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Ensure effective contract management throughout the contracting process.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders and participate in programs related to surplus equipment disposal and technological advancements.

ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply strong knowledge of capital projects to oversee planning and execution activities.
  • Provide project oversight of the fabrication, testing, and delivery of complex retube tooling systems; past retube and/or fuel channel replacement tooling experience is an asset.
  • Support station integration and execution activities associated with the Pickering Refurbishment project.
  • Oversee design and execution activities related to the PN Refurbishment RFBR Project Bundle.
  • Support work on. containment-related systems, including field planning, testing, and execution.
  • Coordinate activities related to the Vacuum Building Outage, working across multiple internal and external groups.
  • Support the Outage Control Centre through planning, coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to project financing activities, including forecasting and cost management.
  • Support manufacturing and fabrication projects, ensuring alignment with quality, schedule, and safety requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of Fuel Handling systems to oversee technical and execution-related activities.
  • Support licensing efforts for DNNP Units 2-4.
  • Plan and manage the execution of licensing deliverables across multiple technical areas.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of technical work to identify, escalate, and resolve project risks across disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 4-year university degree, Engineering, Science or Business; P. Eng. an asset; PMP an asset.
  • Over 6 years of project management experience, including developing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, participating in contract bidding, managing projects and contracts, and handling project closeout.
  • Familiarity with equipment and processes in hydroelectric generating stations or similar industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide guidance.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting in project management.
  • Experience managing complex projects involving multiple contracts and stakeholders with schedule constraints.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
