The primary role of the Maintenance Planning Coordinator is to improve power generation work force productivity and work quality by eliminating, in advance, potential delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, time and labor resources. The Maintenance Planning Coordinator is responsible for the planning of all overhaul and/or maintenance work performed in the area to which the coordinator is assigned. Maintains the liaison and coordination between the operations and maintenance organizations; maintains appropriate records and files to enable meaningful analysis and reporting of results or work done.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manages all approved work request notifications from the areas to which he/she is assigned.
- Ensures all maintenance work orders are coded correctly and work scope defined.
- Estimates jobs showing sequence of steps, the number of tradespersons and required labor hours for each step. Lists determinable materials and any special tools or equipment needed.
- Reviews with engineering those work orders requiring engineering design.
- Coordinates and plans work with other support crafts or business units.
- Examines jobs to be done, performs job walk-downs, and determines best way to accomplish the work. Consults with requester or maintenance foreman/supervisor when necessary.
- Obtains blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
- Identifies and obtains material, parts, and services through the SAP component reservations and purchase requisitions process.
- Ensures the safety needs are given a top priority in work planning.
- Maintains work order backlog files waiting for scheduling based on priority.
- Provide work order packages to assist in work execution.
- Manages preventive maintenance plans.
- Follows up to ensure work orders are completed or closed at the proper time.
- Maintains close contact with the other planners to ensure coordination of complex multi-skill field and shop jobs.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the operations supervisors and the maintenance supervisors concerned with the areas for which he/she is responsible.
- Develops a file of standard work orders (plans, packages) for regularly recurring repair jobs, based on historical experience, to simplify and refine the planning process.
- Assists maintenance and operations management in periodically providing reports, analysis of equipment, labor, cost, and history.
- Make recommendations for system improvement.
- Maintains necessary records and files and prepares and distributes meaningful and accurate control reports to Maintenance, Operations, and leadership.
- Performs other tasks and special assignments as requested by the Manager planning and Process Controls.
Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Electrical, Instrument & Controls, Mechanical or Welding trade background necessary.
Have adequate trade knowledge depth to estimate job labor hours, materials or services.
Should have good oral/written communication skills.
Good administrative and mathematical skills with willingness to handle paperwork.
Have good planning and organizational skills.
Ability to understand what constitutes good instructions.
Able to read blueprints, manuals and shop drawings; and the ability to generate rough sketches as needed.
Ability to develop multiple job plans and to multi-task.
Orientation and commitment to excellence and customer service.
Style and capability commanding respect within both maintenance and operating organizations.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, ppt).
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer skills in SAP PM. Familiar with Primavera and/or PaSta planning and scheduling tool.
- SAP PM Administrative experience (taxonomy records, failure codes, PM strategies).
- Experience planning and/or scheduling experience in the power generation industry.
- General understanding of reliability programs such RCM, FMEA, CBM, PdM.
- Electrical, Instrument and Controls, Mechanical or Welding trade background experience as a Journeyman in Power Generation.
