Job Summary

Financial Analyst II performs various moderately complex financial and economic analysis and modeling. This position develops and prepares financial plans, budgets, rate review filing documents, and business planning and support analyses. This role works strategically with customers to achieve business goals and address opportunities and challenges.

What you will do

  • Participates in developing, maintaining, and modifying financial models, plans, and budgets to support strategic decision-making.

  • Participates in analysis of intermediate level financial data/trends, including comparing forecast to actual results.

  • Assists with core accounting functions such as reconciliations, journal entries and variance analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Effectively communicates - verbally and in writing - intermediate level financial information to internal and external stakeholders in a concise and simplified manner.

  • Participates in business planning and support analysis, including economic scenario analysis, performance benchmarking, opportunity and risk assessment, and research projects with direction from a senior or lead.

  • Proactively works with customers to provide intermediate level strategic consulting to help achieve business goals

  • Seeks opportunities for different and innovative approaches to address issues or problems.

  • May be involved in or responsible for assisting in developing rate review filing documents.

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Emphasis in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field. Preferred

Required Experience

  • 3 years of technical and/or professional experience. MBA or professional certifications may be considered for a portion of professional work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of financial modeling, financial planning, and accounting principles.

  • Experience with reconciliations, journal entries and variance analysis.

  • Proficiency in financial software applications and general computer tools (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
