JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Engineer, Pressure Boundary & Standards.

 

Reporting to the Manager Engineering, this position is responsible for the establishment of Pressure Boundary (PB) requirements for diverse organizations, including site plant design and project design organizations, users of the pressure boundary program, external design agencies, quality assurance programs, nuclear waste organization, AIM organization, and many more. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical specialists to support the operation of various mechanical Pressure Boundary systems.
  • Lead initiatives to establish PB requirements for various organizations, considering the unique challenges posed by site plant design organizations, project design organizations, users of the pressure boundary program, external design agencies, nuclear waste organizations, AIM organization, and others.
  • Formulate recommendations for industry standards that cater to the specific needs of diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of organizations, including regulatory authorities, design organizations, and industry interest groups.
  • Provide strategic direction to external task forces and working groups, ensuring efficient project progression.
  • Act as one of the organization's subject matter SPOCs in the Pressure Boundary program.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).
  • Participate actively on standards development committees such as CSA and ASME.
  • Maintain pressure boundary governance and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop self-assessments to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of pressure boundary programs.
  • Participate in audits as a subject matter expert in pressure boundary program matters.
  • Advise a broad range of organizations, on matters related to pressure boundary and related regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
  • Fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario or be eligible to be licensed in the province of Ontario.
  • Minimum 10 years of design experience and CSA standards committees experience.
  • Exposure to pressure boundary and TSSA engineering; proven experience in leading initiatives related to pressure boundary regulations.
  • Experience working in a nuclear engineering environment.
  • Technical expertise in nuclear safety and pressure boundary issues, including requirements for design and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with the development of industry standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Successful management of working groups and task forces, including effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and fostering an inclusive and participatory environment.
  • Strong understanding of executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision.
