Job Summary

The Operations Strategy & Execution (OS&E) manager is responsible for consulting with Sr. Electric Operations leadership, cross-matrix business partners and subject-matter-experts to develop and drive operating plans to deliver upon our Stakeholder Commitments. This position will serve as direct support to the state VP of operations and as a liaison to the Central Services organizations Sr. Leadership team and is responsible for collaborating across the business to identify and drive opportunities to capture customer value while delivering safe and reliable service. The OS&E manager will support and monitor the strategic planning process and identify opportunities to drive improvements with a bias towards continuous improvement and standardization in work practices, processes and metrics that will deliver an efficient and effective operations. The leader will be directly involved in ensuring operating plans and strategic initiatives are aligned across the various departments.

Essential Functions

  • Identify opportunities to drive improvements in work practices, processes and metrics that delivers an efficient and effective operations in strong collaboration with the Electric Operations leadership, cross-matrix business partners and subject-matter-experts (Environmental, Engineering, Construction, Safety, Training, Regulatory, Transformation Office, Finance, etc.)
  • Leads the identification, prioritization and execution of initiatives to deliver upon NiSource Stakeholder Commitments in partnership with Electric Operations leadership and cross-functional subject-matter-experts
  • Drives research and analysis of key business and operating issues in support of Operations leadership. Provides a strategic view serving as a tactical expert to the Operations team with to break through barriers to improve overall execution
  • Drives execution of initiatives to deliver upon Electric Operations Operating Plans and NiSource Stakeholder Commitments.
  • Supports design, development, implementation and monitoring of Operating Plans and long term strategic plans
  • Effective employee group interactions (staff meetings, leadership forums, employee engagement, and ongoing special teams such as safety committees, etc.).
  • Participates in all key state leadership meetings
  • Serve as the Operations liaison to central services organizations focused on matrix business partner collaboration (50%) and continuous improvement and corporate and state Initiatives (50%)
  • Monitors, tracks and analyzes the success of implemented strategic initiatives and operations tactical plans at state level
  • Works with teams to identify cultural barriers and resistance and develop or support change strategies that drive successful adoption across Operations
  • Performs special assignments including management of cross functional projects and initiatives
  • Provides support, oversee and coordinate administrative, governance and planning processes as requested (i.e. annual President/GM Roadshows, front line leadership meetings, annual operating plans, etc.)
  • Supports value realization for our customers through continuous improvement, making it easier to deliver safe, reliable service.

Required Qualifications For Position

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in a quantitative discipline such as business, finance, accounting or engineering)
  • In lieu of degree applicant should have Three(3) years of experience with one or more of the following areas : finance, organizational development, performance metrics, operations, continuous improvement, and/or customer operations
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Electric operations strategic direction and key priorities and processes.
  • Knowledge of lean principles, six sigma, continuous improvement or change management methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, demonstrated sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and to manage multiple, simultaneous and at times, competing deliverables.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing a budget.
  • Must be self-directed, with ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change
  • Ability to influence and gain commitment and trust from senior level executives
  • Ability to comprehend and assimilate complex business processes
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and innovation skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills as well as skills in facilitation, including sr. leader audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to take technical information and translate it into terms that are understood by a larger audience
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • 8+ years of experience in related discipline
