The Offshore Wind (OSW) Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, testing, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation and control systems within offshore wind farms. This role involves optimizing systems such as sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and SCADA controls used in operations. The technician will apply working knowledge of the operations and maintenance of instrumentation systems to ensure efficient and reliable performance.
A proactive and safety-conscious approach is essential for maintaining the reliability and safety of critical wind generation systems. The technician plays an active role in ensuring compliance with safety procedures and regulatory standards, such as NERC. They contribute to daily reporting through operations logbooks and ensure all work adheres to industry standards.
Additionally, understanding the basic electric grid, including transmission and substation operations, and knowledge of NERC compliance, including evidence collection and documentation, is crucial for maintaining regulatory compliance in offshore wind operations. Experience in compliance activities, including gathering evidence, conducting inspections, and ensuring all operations align with regulatory requirements, is required. Participation in compliance audits and knowledge of how offshore systems integrate with grid reliability standards are critical.
