Internship Overview: The Talen Energy Engineering Internship is a comprehensive work-study program designed to provide college students with hands-on experience in both power plant operations and office settings. Internship Roles and Responsibilities: Interns will support various Engineering activities (Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. Project assignments will vary by department and may involve tasks such as:

Nuclear Engineering:

Perform nuclear fuel management analysis.

Develop performance indicators for nuclear risk assessment.

Create parameter displays for the plant process computer system.

Automate the development of Control Rod Movement Sheets.

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering:

Assist with plant modifications and engineering work requests.

Conduct calculations, analysis, and specifications supporting plant upgrades.

Update plant electrical system analysis to incorporate change mechanisms and optimize system capabilities.

Generate user interface pages for monitoring equipment performance.

Thermal Performance and Project Management:

Participate in a "Missing Megawatts and Thermal Performance" project, including steam system walkdowns and the use of thermal monitoring software.

Collaborate on a pilot project to develop radiation-resistant instruments for wireless applications.

Investigate thermal losses, estimate megawatt impacts, and develop solution strategies.

Candidate Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:

Enrolled in an accredited college or university program as an undergraduate or graduate student in Engineering.

Must be a full-time student (minimum 12 semester hours).

Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
