Represent the Information Governance (IG) team on projects and initiatives to apply data governance tools and concepts to ERCOT data. Works, in partnership with the business and Information Technology (IT) stakeholders, on the development of guidance, policy, and implementation of data governance frameworks for the organization. This individual is a member of the IG team, but performs a role between the business and IT, to implement and administer enterprise-wide document management systems and related procedures that allow the organization to capture, store, retrieve, share, label, and destroy business information and data assets. Create and maintain appropriate procedures for the creation, maintenance, protection, archiving and destruction of business information and data assets in all applications and repositories. Coordinate with appropriate business areas impacted by legal proceedings and audits to ensure Information Governance requirements are well defined and being followed.
JOB DUTIES
- Applies the basic principles, theories and concepts related to the Information Governance and Records Management discipline and how to effectively enforce them within the ERCOT culture.

Familiar with data governance standards, frameworks, and guidelines and comfortable working alongside of Information Technology professionals and business stakeholders.

Defines IG policy and processes for continuous improvement in lifecycle management and data quality.

Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

Identifies who is responsible and accountable for managing content and data within the organization (defining ownership of structured data and data products)

Maintains and updates appropriate Information Governance policy compliant with all applicable laws and regulations

Coordinates with the IT Department regarding the management of electronic content, software, and applications to ensure data remains reliable, consistent, and trusted to inform business decisions

Coordinates with Security regarding classification, security, protection and destruction of content in all formats and locations

Manage, monitor and follows best practices, procedures, guidelines and standards for content management and data governance throughout its lifecycle.

Routinely communicates with stakeholders regarding content management issues and changes

Remains current with industry trends, technology, legislation and policies in Information Governance, Data Governance, Records Management and Archival data management

Orchestrate compliance with Legal Holds and data request processes (public information requests) between Legal and IT for tax, legal, or operational reasons

Works cooperatively with the IT Department to provide appropriate guidance and policy for the management of data in alignment with IG policy

Supports and instructs ERCOT departments and their personnel regarding management of business information as defined by IG program requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
-
Experience with relational databases and structured data systems and applying retention and Information Governance principles to them

Experience in improving data by using Data Management and/or Data Governance strategies and strong understanding of data management principles, data modeling, and data warehousing

An understanding of data catalogs (i.e., MS Purview and Databricks Unity Catalog) is a plus

Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, specifically the administration and management of SharePoint Online, MS Teams, and OneDrive

An Understanding of the eDiscovery process and software used to search, review, and produce content for information requests, legal actions, audits, and investigations

Awareness and understanding of the Lifecycle of Information concept and applying Archival principles to content with long-term and enduring value
EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree: Library Science, Data Governance, Business or related field (Required)

Master's Degree: Library Science, Data Governance, or related field (Preferred)

or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
WORK LOCATION - Taylor, TX:

Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
