Apply principles of electrical engineering and the electric power industry to provide engineering analysis and technical support to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC Standards, ERCOT Protocols and Market Guides. Provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system. Participate in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments and perform studies. Implement appropriate system modeling. Develop tools and procedures to monitor and control the system and to enhance system reliability and departmental efficiencies. Perform system studies, analyze simulated or actual operating results, and develop solutions to current or future system issues. Serve as Subject Matter Expert for the department. Address the most complex engineering issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Coordinate and provide presentations and participate in stakeholder meetings with ERCOT personnel, market participants, and industry regulatory agencies. Guide projects and serve as a mentor to less experienced engineers/analysts. Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and industry best practices.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of experience as Operations Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, or System Planning Engineer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The five (5) years of experience as Operations Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, or System Planning Engineer must have been in the electric utility industry.
