The Supervisor of Compression leads an operational team of union employees that operate, maintain, construct natural gas plant compressors and conditioning equipment, and act as first responders for gas emergencies. The incumbent will also support safety, process improvement activities, and interact with external and internal customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in an on-call rotation providing leadership during after hours, weekends, and Holidays. Implement and adhere to emergency response plans during gas emergencies. Maintain all qualifications and training to act as a first responder during Gas emergencies (explosions, fires, ruptures, outages, or other). Serve in an appropriate leadership role within the ICS structure during ICS activations, and coordinate with public sector emergency first responders to ensure safety and incident stabilization
- Practice Lean methodologies: integrate visual management, operating reviews, problem solving, standard work development, and waste elimination to improve operational excellence/performance. Lead and support local cross-functional team(s) and coworkers through change initiatives
- Perform field visits, lead safety meetings, perform audits, and participate as a member of safety committees. Perform quarterly plant safety audits in adherence to company safety guidelines. Conduct investigations of safety incidents, develop and follow-up with identified countermeasures. Implement preventative maintenance programs and safety protocols. Identify safety tactics to mitigate and eliminate safety incidents using Engineering and Administrative Controls
- Lead union employees, manage work performance to key performance indicators (KPI). Monitor and coordinate union employee certifications and trainings. Hold union workforce accountable for staying up to date on compression-skilled training and qualifications. Analyze workload data to build schedules and on-call staffing agreements. Review and approve time and expenses for direct reports. Fill in as proxy for department approvals when needed
- Support budget monitoring of actual performance versus forecast by reviewing hours, and reasonable expectancies (RE). Identify and propose financial countermeasures in support of budget reconciliation and proper charging
- Lead, organize, and support construction, compliance, and maintenance projects/activities in assigned area. Monitor adherence to planned milestones, ensure first time quality performance, manage plan changes and risk associated with assigned area. Visit jobsites to evaluate work progression, adherence to standards, safety practices, and on-time job completion. Prepare requisitions for operations and maintenance supplies, equipment, and materials
- Operate within the guidelines of the union contract, participate in grievances, and maintain an effective working relationship with local Union leadership
- Provide direction to team on plant-specific operating environmental regulations established by Environmental Engineering, including countermeasures, equipment testing, audits, waste transportation, etc.Abide by API 1164 regulations (cyber security) by conducting checks and audits on the requirements
- Provide direction and guidance towards the adherence to Gas Compression policies and procedures including equipment emergency shutdown, station fire gates, vented gas response, relief valve actuation, and other. Ensure operational compliance with regulatory standards, develop containment measures when exceptions are identified in conjunction with Engineering/Gas planning. Review or implement complex gas procedures, initiate and lead troubleshooting efforts in support of field work

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Technical related field with 2 years in related Gas System or leadership experience
