Directly responsible for managing the planning, design, engineering, procurement and construction activities on high-value, high-visibility and multi-year utility electrical substation and transmission line projects delivering power ranging from 500 kV to 12 kV. Ensures projects are consistent with SRP s design, cost, schedule and quality criteria, and safety values. Also responsible for development and implementation of standard and specific project procedures and reports. Provides operational oversight of staff support functions and requirements for projects.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for project management activities of substation and transmission line facilities ranging from 500kV to 12kV in support of planned system improvements, generator and transmission interconnections, and industrial customers. Project management activities may consist of siting, planning, detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning efforts. This includes directing, assigning, and prioritizing project work plans to meet project objectives and milestones.
- Manages, oversees, and coordinates all aspects of project activities supported by a matrix team consisting of internal departments and external consultants/contractors performing with responsibilities such as engineering, civil construction, physical electrical construction, protection and control construction, testing and commissioning. Serves as the single point of contact with outside entities including customers.
- Supports development of study reports, work scope, bill of materials, constructability plans, request for proposals, specifications, and contract documents.
- Proactively communicates project updates to team and management, maintaining accurate and up to date records, including project management reports and status updates to provide visibility to current and potential project risks.
- Administers and coordinates the development, implementation, and maintenance of standard processes and procedures for all project stakeholders.
- Establishes and monitors the project budget and schedule; and provides team leadership to support schedule and budget performance.
- Manages the procurement/award of materials and contracted services including consultants, long lead-time equipment, and construction contracts with direct recommendation responsibility.
What It Takes To Succeed
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
Experience
For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years). For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years). For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).
Education
A bachelor's degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
