KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Day-Ahead Trading Management - Manages a team of highly skilled power trading/scheduling staff responsible for mitigating risk and providing guidance to staff that are overseeing a generating portfolio in Real Time; provides technical management for the team, ensuring that objectives are met and all relevant standards/procedures are followed; ensures that operational problems are identified and resolved; ensures that operational procedures and working practices are current and fit for the purpose. Oversees all commercial aspects of day-ahead power supply, which include wholesale power contract negotiation and administration, resource operations planning, portfolio risk management, trading and scheduling for power. Optimizes a $350 million and over net variable power cost budget; ensures that load is served and contractual obligations are met while net variable power costs are reduced for customers and shareholders. Works closely with other commercial and operational groups within the organization to support the overall management of PGE's power and gas asset portfolio.
Internal Collaboration - Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan; assists with the definition and operation of effective financial controls and decision making.
Financial Management - Oversees resourcing decisions and planning for team; partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.
Resourcing - Reviews organizational development needs and training strategies to determine required learning and development outcomes for the team; provides guidance in the creation of development plans; monitors ongoing progress and provides coaching and mentoring and provides feedback; completes annual performance management reviews.
Professional Development - Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan; assists with the definition and operation of effective financial controls and decision making.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
Education
- Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, math, marketing or other related field or equivalent experience.
Experience

Prefer eight or more years of progressive experience in energy trading, derivatives, marketing or bulk electronic and gas system management or in related field; management and leadership experience required.
