Description
Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Electric Transmission System Operations Center (ET SOC) is seeking candidates to provide engineering support for the System Operations Backup and Education Center's (SOBEC) Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS). Candidates must possess the knowledge and technical skills to complete varied assignments requiring diverse knowledge of engineering and operations principles and practices. Responsibilities include performing engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Specific responsibilities will involve programming/maintaining the DTS by designing specific power flow solutions to create scenarios for training events. You would assist with training operators on engineered scenarios. Under the direction of a supervisor or work leader, you will engage in routine assignments designed to develop and enhance ET SOC's education curriculum. You will gain familiarity with techniques, approaches, practices, and the nature of engineering systems and equipment. The goal is to develop the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out DTS base case development, work related to DTS system upgrades, and design of tools utilized by system operators and staff. You must use judgment in prioritizing tasks and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications.

Preferred: Ideal candidate will be proficient with coding languages such as C++, Java, Python, or similar languages as tasks will involve writing scripts/lines of code to complete engineering tasks with data on the DTS/EMS. Experience with database management systems is a plus, as a successful candidate will be interacting with large amounts of information working behind the scenes of the DTS/EMS.
