TITLE: AMI System Technologist (U25-017) 
DEPARTMENT: Customer Operations  
WORK LOCATION/OFFICE:  Acheson Service Center                                                               
STATUS: 01 Full Time - Salaried  
NUMBER OF HIRES: 1                    

DESCRIPTION:  
Reporting to the Supervisor Technical Services, the AMI System Technologist will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, accuracy and availability of data transmitted over the AMI System. This includes meters, communication technologies, networks, tools, all equipment (Hardware, Software and Firmware) related components, and head end systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
    Analyze large datasets to evaluate AMI System performance and life cycle planning to develop annual compliance programs, support long term meter strategies, daily operations, and pilot projects. 
    Perform duties in compliance with federal and provincial regulations, under the control of an ISO 9000 quality program (S-A-01).
    Develop AMI System programs and standards for billing and non-billing purposes.
    Develop operating procedures for the AMI System components and equipment testing.
    Interpret AMI System metrics and geospatial mapping applications to adjust communication technologies (e.g., PLC, Cellular, RF Mesh) or programs to ensure timely and accurate data transmission. 
    Perform daily assessments of the AMI system and identify and resolve AMI System issues such as read performance, cybersecurity threats, tamper attempts   and theft of electricity. 
    Model current and future processes, defining business requirements, establishing test plans, testing software and process solutions, including preventative and corrective actions for non-conformances.
    Repair, maintain, calibrate, and verify AMI System components and test equipment.
    Act as a resource to support all internal teams that require access to AMI Systems. This is to include auditing, training, contingency planning, and technical support.
    Support strategies in the management and delivery of non-standard or pilot project requests.
    Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders; this includes seeking input/feedback from stakeholders to manage and meet their expectations and needs, developing and maintaining various records and producing reports as required. 
    Special projects and other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
    Advanced computer skills, including advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Macros to manage large meter datasets.
    Advanced analytical skills required to identify and resolve issues, including recommendations and implementation.
    Thorough understanding of the principles of electrical power engineering, revenue metering principles, communication technologies and AMI Systems, including ability to operate electronic and electrical equipment.
    Familiar with billing systems, revenue systems and load settlement.
    Thorough understanding of mapping and geospatial applications.
    Proven ability to take initiative, analyze and solve problems with a positive attitude. This involves working proactively with little direction to resolve issues and evaluate possible solutions. 
    Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a wide variety of tasks simultaneously.
    Strong team building, and interpersonal skills will be required to develop effective working relationships within the team and with external clients. 
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
    High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to quality in all work performed.
    Ability to operate warehouse equipment and machinery would be an asset.
    Working knowledge of SAP, AMI Head End Systems, and S-A-01 (ISO 9000 quality programs) would be an asset.
    Knowledge of all applicable codes, acts, and regulations as they apply to the electric utility industry would be an asset.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
   A Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Geomatics, or other related discipline a combination of education and experience may be considered.

   A Valid Class 5 drivers permit is required.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation or a Professional Technologist designation is considered an asset. 
    A Project Management or Business Analyst certificate is considered an asset. 
    ISO 9001 Quality Assurance certificate or 3 years of experience would be an asset.
    Professional Engineer (PEng) designation would be an asset. 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
   Participation in work outside the regular scheduled hours of work is required.
   Due to geographic and training considerations, some travel including overnight stays is required.
   This has been identified as a safety-sensitive position. All successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

    Additional testing maybe required.
