Summary
Under general supervision creates and maintains a safe working environment and conducts daily tailboard meetings. Practices and enforces good housekeeping on assigned equipment and work locations. Directs the work of others and performs skilled work at the journeyman level in the daily operations of Lab for processing, testing, packaging and distribution of high-voltage protective rubber goods per O.S.H.A. and A.S.T.M. standards. Maintains critical test records, oversees monthly testing schedules, general Lab maintenance and administrative duties of the Test Lab. Is responsible for directing and training assigned employees in all phases of the Protective Rubber Goods Test Lab operations. May sometimes be transported to work locations by fixed wing, rotor, or other means of company approved transportation.

What You'll Do
- Shall be responsible for personnel safety and actively contribute to safe working conditions and safety awareness of fellow employees and work processes. Provide instruction on, and enforcement of, safety rules and procedures. Follow all SRP operating guidelines, procedures and the Accident Prevention Rules book.(APR)
- Shall be responsible for holding effective, documented tailboard meetings. Tailboards shall be held before the job begins and shall be held when any part of the job or crew changes (APR 1-26). Insures safe operation of equipment and conducts job site safety audits.
- Shall be responsible for following all applicable O.S.H.A. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines and A.S.T.M. (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards for testing high-voltage protective rubber goods and grounds.
- Shall be responsible for implementing and enforcing Lab procedures for testing high-voltage protective rubber goods and grounds.
- Ensures proper handling and disposal of chemicals, hazardous waste, and PCB according to rules and regulations. Must be familiar with Material Safety Data sheets (MSDS).
- Is responsible for all work being performed in an efficient and cost effective manner. Monitors and analyzes each phase of the work and process. Tests and approves work performed is in compliance with O.S.H.A. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and A.S.T.M. (American Society for Testing and Materials) guidelines for testing high-voltage protective rubber goods and grounds.
- Reviews assigned jobs, location of jobs, manpower, makes accurate estimates of time, and determines material needs. Procures parts and materials as required to complete job assignments and maintains proper inventory levels.
- Is responsible for implementing and following Lab procedures for testing high-voltage protective rubber goods and grounds; SME-Certified by vendor in the operation and maintenance of the high-voltage glove and blanket test machine. SME for all applicable A.S.T.M. (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards for testing and for implementing and following Lab procedures for testing high-voltage protective rubber goods and grounds.
- Directs, instructs, and participates in all phases of work performed including but not limited to the following:
- Operation of the testing software utilized in the protective rubber goods lab (SME-Certified by vendor to operate and maintain software). Maintain up to date employee records.
- Operation and maintenance of the protective grounds test units and following all applicable A.S.T.M. (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards for testing. (SME-Certified in EPZ and Personal Protective Grounding)
- Operation of the testing/calibration software utilized for the gas monitoring equipment and maintain up to date records. (SME-Certified in Confined Space Entry)
- Inspection/testing of falls protection harnesses and maintain up to date employee records. (SME-Certified in Falls Protection)
- Prepares accurate time reports, material records and other documentation as required.
- Provides input for the review and evaluation of direct reports.
