PSE's Project Delivery team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr Construction Manager position!

Job Description

PSE is looking for an Electric Senior Construction Manager to serve as a primary construction support contact for new or modified utility installations, as well as for internal projects, public improvement, program and emergent work. This position provides practical and technical construction support for projects from initiation and design through construction completion. 

Responsibilities include ensuring constructability, compliance, quality control, crew productivity, cost effectiveness, and schedule adherence. This position has the authority to make real-time construction decisions as well as directing field change orders. This position ensures construction compliance and identifies any project cost or schedule changes that might call for remedial actions. This position upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities and promotes and supports a culture of total safety. This position requires a significant amount of field presence and travel within the company operations area.

This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitates change orders.
  • Performs unplanned outage investigations, including field analysis and report documentation.
  • Identifies and works with appropriate PSE experts in technical areas to review project design specifications and drawings and ensures that contractor-provided work is in accordance with the contract specifications.
  • Works with Project Manager to respond to customer complaints related to construction as needed.
  • Works closely with the Project Management teams in the development of construction and resource plans, constructability review, project reporting, scheduled, and estimates of construction activities with industry and company practices.
  • Maintains strong understanding of current service provider contractual agreements. Works with appropriate stakeholders to assess unit usage and assist with creation of new unit build-ups of labor/equipment and unit usage assessments.
  • Participates in pre-construction meetings for utility installation as needed. May be called upon as subject matter expert, in limited circumstances, to articulate required construction requirements and practices with customer and/or customer's contractor.
  • Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least ten years of increasingly responsible positions in the energy sector. 
  • Previous involvement in project management, site management or project engineering of energy projects.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively and efficiently analyze a wide array of potential business challenges. 
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 
  • Proven experience achieving structured results for unique acquisition, resource integration, operations and/or maintenance projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and cultivate strong working relationships with contractual counterparties, regulators and other industry participants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to contemporaneously document evaluation, due diligence and negotiation initiatives for later prudence purposes.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage complex projects.
  • Proficient with suite of word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.

Desired Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in project engineering or electric line construction.
  • Journey level Line Certificate with experience in Northwest highly preferred.
