Position Summary

The Expert Change Management Consultant will incorporate a disciplined change management approach and best practices for the projects within the Finance True North Program Portfolio. These projects include some of the most complex and cross-functional projects within the Company and once executed will create long-standing changes and improvements in the ways that we operate in Finance and across the Company.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with executive sponsors and project leads to develop the case for change, coordinate voice of the customer listening sessions and/or surveys and assessments and create robust change management and communication plans. You will maintain a clear cadence and structure with project teams and support them in preparations for a monthly governance forum to allow for executive decision making. You will also facilitate trainings and provide newsletters and guides to reinforce concepts and build change management competencies within the Finance organization.

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 1-2x weekly or based on business needs.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.  This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:        $114,000     

Bay Area Maximum:       $182,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation on change management approaches, plans, and practices. Assistance in implementing change management plans.
    • CASE FOR CHANGE: Facilitate working sessions with project leads and sponsors to develop this major deliverable for change management efforts. Outline key messaging and define a compelling way to present the project to key stakeholders throughout the life of the project . Outcomes can be used for presentations or training to executives and staff. May be developed in combination with the project charter to help define the Business Case, Problem Statement and Goal Statement.
    • VOICE OF CUSTOMER: Provide guidance to project leads on how to gather the Voice of Customer (e.g.  surveys, interviews or focus groups) and identify what is important to customers so outcomes can be developed to ensure customer satisfaction. Analyze results to focus on improvements based on the needs and expectations of the customer.
    • CHANGE MANAGEMENT CONSULTATION: Provide change management support for complex and cross-functional projects to ensure that stakeholders are prepared for technology, process, and organizational changes. Facilitate stakeholder analysis and assess change management needs and design change management plans that support organizational readiness for change, both pre and post project deployment. In partnership with project leads and sponsors, execute change management plans that include coordinated learning, communication and engagement activities. Support project leads and sponsors in driving the sustained adoption of change to maximize effectiveness and benefits of change initiatives. Work with project teams to incorporate change management activities into the overall project plan.
    • LEARNING AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES: Identify communication and training opportunities and approaches to facilitate understanding and to garner support for change. Review training and communication plans and deliverables to ensure they meet the needs of the project.
    • RISK ASSESSMENT: Anticipate people related risks and develop plans and actions to mitigate risks and address concerns.
    • ONGOING ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION: Evaluate and measure results and success of change management strategies, plans and actions and share findings. At project close, develop project sustainability plan and monitor effectiveness.
    • RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Develop & maintain relationships with project stakeholders and teams to deliver desired impact and results.
    • BEST PRACTICES: Identify and incorporate industry change management best practices and internal lessons learned assessments into change management methodology and work to build these capabilities within the Finance organization.
  • Develop complex change management approaches plans and tactics for large and complex change management initiatives that have Finance-wide impact.
  • Provide training and support on change management tools and templates

Qualifications

Minimum:  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8 years change management experience on large scale projects including large technology deployments
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and training others

  • Ability to participate as an active project team member & articulate change management approaches, strategies and plans
  • Facilitation presence
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills- including ability to interact, collaborate, and influence at the executive level
  • Ability to effectively raise issues even when unpopular
  • Highly organized, with demonstrated ability to plan and balance multiple priorities at once
  • Ability to work effectively with senior staff members and executive leadership
  • Able to navigate the organization and understand complex inter-relationships of various groups, operations, systems or processes to be able to identify risks, impacts and strategies that will help drive change management strategy and plans.
