Job Summary
In this role, the engineer will perform reactor engineering tasks, under general supervision, to support safe plant operations. This role assures all engineering analysis and recommendations are prepared in accordance with site procedures, safety analyses, regulatory requirements, and industry standards by applying sound reactor engineering fundamentals.Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
- Monitoring reactor core operation and performing applicable tests and surveillances.
- Providing technical advice to the Operations crew when assigned to the Control Room.
- Developing reactivity pans for power maneuvers.
- Supporting / Conducting start-up physics testing.
- Performing new fuel receipt inspections and tracking special nuclear materials.
- Analyzing and planning fuel movements to support refueling and dry fuel storage.
- Preparing and reviewing procedures associated with reactor core operation and nuclear fuel management.
- Identifying, investigating, and correcting problems within the Corrective Action Program.
- Interfacing with and coordinating activities performed by outside engineering and consulting service companies.
- Interfacing with customers to identify needs and providing engineering solutions to facilitate operational effectiveness.
- Supporting fleet initiatives and all reactor sites as assigned by management.
- Working independently as well as in a team environment.
- Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Nuclear Engineering from ABET accredited institution preferred)
- At least 3 years engineering experience required (Nuclear experience preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
- Proven completed work assignments with integrity and adherence to high professional standards.
- Demonstrated dependable, steadfast working behaviors while completing quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
- Ability to work odd and extended hours based on plant needs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. (Software/programming experience preferred)
- Must reside or relocate within site-specific ERO response time.
