Job Summary
The Associate Project Manager (APM) / Project Manager (PM) position is responsible for full life -cycle project management (Initiation, execute, closeout) of multi-discipline capital projects executed by the Electric T&D - Projects & Construction (P&C) line of business. Projects will typically be Inside Plant, Outside Plant Distribution and/or Transmission Projects, or System Failures with low to mid-level complexity and the APM/PM is accountable for delivering required scope within approved budget and schedule at specified quality grade in accordance with established Company policies and procedures.
Through integrated planning and effective coordination with other functional groups, the APM/PM supports safe execution of project activities; highest levels of service reliability, customer service and community relationship; compliance with all permits and environmental and other Federal, State, and local regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Manages a diverse range of major transmission, substation, control and protection, interconnection, distribution and generation capital projects.
Lead Project Execution-organizing, directing and coordinating activities and resources, including permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning phases
Planning - plan project execution including resources, scope, schedule, budget, safety, risk and expenditure and update/revise at routine intervals throughout project life cycle
Leads the development of key milestone and detailed project schedules identifying project tasks and their interdependencies
Monitor/Control - measure project progress against plan (scope, cost, schedule performance, safety); risks response; respond to change request; ensure project is within authorized funding and other corporate compliance requirements
Leads or assists functional areas on major system repair efforts on failed transmission circuits and substations as requested by senior management
Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience working with and understanding of contracts: Lump Sum, Engineering, Procure and Construct (EPC), Unit Cost, Time and Material/Equipment.

Job Specific Qualifications
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field with 6 years of engineering, capital construction, project management or technical supervisory experience.
In lieu of a degree, 10 years of project management, capital construction, T&D or technical supervisory experience in the utility industry,
In-depth knowledge and relevant experience in project management, engineering, construction methods, budgeting, cost control, planning, scheduling and estimating
Comprehensive knowledge of substation and/or transmission and distribution design and engineering, procurement, or construction related processes
Demonstrated project leadership
Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and interact and drive deliverables with all managerial levels, including Senior Management, both internally as well as externally
Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization
Developed written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. both external and internal).
Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license and a safe and satisfactory driving history.
Preferred / Desired Skills:
4 years of Inside Plant, Overhead and/or underground outside plant distribution, Transmission project experience, or work in heavy industrial environments
T&D experience in utility industry or relater experience
Experience in Project Management and managing capital projects.
Project Management Professional (PMP).
Preferred Knowledge of Electrical: construction, operations, equipment, and materials.
Knowledge of Article VII and SEQRA requirement.
Ability to understand engineering systems/drawings.
Understanding Company rules for scheduling outages.
Advanced computer application knowledge, i.e. P6, MS Project, Access or other Critical Path Method/scheduling software.
MS degree in Engineering /other discipline or advanced degree.
