Description
The Project Manager is primarily responsible for the delivery of solar PV, wind projects and BESS projects which will vary in value from $50M to more than $300M. Reporting to the Director of Construction, you will be responsible for pre-contract coordination, pre-construction activities, project execution, and transition of projects to operations. In addition to this, you will manage and ensure the delivery of project due diligence processes and work on general business development activities during various stages of the project lifecycle.

This role would require travel up to 2 weeks per month.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering, construction, development, and project support teams to lead aspects of project delivery.
  • Support the project development of onshore solar PV, wind projects and BESS projects, interfacing across many technical and commercial areas of the company.
  • Plan resources and coordinate the input of specialized skills supported either by internal or external expertise.
  • Support RFP tenders for civil and electrical balance of plant scope of work packages, solar PV modules, and wind turbine supply agreements in cooperation with the Procurement Department.
  • Manage contracts for EPC, project equipment, and services using and organizing both internal and external resources to ensure project success.
  • Develop innovative Project Execution Plans to meet Project Sponsor's needs and Company objectives.
  • Develop project budget estimates, ensure clarity of calculated construction costs for solar PV or wind projects and maintain an overview of project strategic fit to the organization.
  • Understand and use planning tools to continually control and optimize project costs and programs. 
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation systems and records including budget, schedule, quality and health, safety and environmental management.
  • Identify value-add and profitability influencers and make recommendations to optimize project economics.
  • Support and integrate company system and governance requirements into the project management process based on appropriate international standards.
  • Familiar with P6 and Microsoft Project and capable of working with the PMO team to accurately update and manage scheduling of EPC, BOP and Equipment contracts.
  • Able be on site 50% of the time when assigned to a project and travel as needed to support pre-construction and other close out activities.
  • Must have a strong understanding and experience in managing Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of a project and participate regularly in inspections and audits on site.  Be able to mentor and share this experience with newer employees and anyone coming to site.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct and proven experience in managing construction of large-scale conventional and renewable power as well as transmission line . Additional experience in operations and maintenance will be considered an asset.
  • Proven experience supervising construction project owners on site team either directly hired or third party.
  • Strong understanding and experience in the process from land acquisition, to permitting through to construction, implementation, and operations.
  • Working knowledge of contract and agreement language pertaining to equipment supply and project construction as well as HSE and environmental legislation (particularly construction regulations).
  • Proven experience in project management for several complex projects, with a focus on cost, schedule, and risk management.
  • Experienced in the specification and formal procurement of new projects, including the review of supplier contracts.
