AltaGas - Gas Scheduler
The Gas Scheduler is responsible for managing the natural gas scheduling activities within the Commodity Risk Management & Fundamentals team.As a Gas Scheduler, you will use your strong analytical acumen and attention to detail to play a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and mitigating risks pertaining to AltaGas storage business. Additionally, your scheduling expertise will help optimize the storage facility and help the Commercial Team to make informed decisions.
You will:
- Actively nominate storage volumes at the Dimsdale Gas Storage facility to optimize operational efficiency.
- Serve as the primary contact between the commercial group and field operators, ensuring seamless coordination for optimal storage facility flow.
- Manage the balancing and scheduling of various natural gas pipelines, including Alliance, Enbridge Westcoast, and NGTL.
- Provide on-call evening and weekend support to address scheduling-related issues and ensure continuous operational reliability.
- Engage in buying and selling natural gas on weekends, contributing to the overall commercial success of the gas storage business.
- Work closely with internal groups, including Operations, Finance, and Risk, to integrate scheduling insights into broader business strategies.
You have:
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in commerce, economics, mathematics, or a related field required
- 5+ Years of natural gas scheduling within the energy industry required
- Strong understanding of WCSB pipelines and their operational dynamics.
- Proficiency in risk management tools and software, with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and commitment to ensuring compliance in all scheduling activities.
- Experience in researching and solving complex issues related to gas scheduling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong MS Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
