Spire is seeking a Standards and Procedures Specialist. This position will be responsible for coordinating and administering operations-related codes and standards activities within the Company, including standards manuals, operating manuals, and Safety Management Systems (SMS) procedures. Coordinates activities to ensure that Company standards and procedures are compliant with state and federal rules, employ best practices, and are consistent across business units. Supports the Company's efforts to ensure that the materials used for facilities are appropriate, functional, and meet the requisite regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, reviews, maintains, and distributes all Company standards and procedures, including the support of Safety Management Systems procedures
Reviews Federal and State requirements and new technologies to ensure updated standards and procedures are in place as changes occur
Coordinates activities related to ensuring that Company standards and procedures are compliant with state and federal rules, employ best practices, and are consistent across business units
Works closely with all departments including Pipeline Safety and Compliance, Pipeline and System Integrity, Health, Safety, and Environmental, and Right of Way and Land Management to improve the Company's compliance with pipeline safety and environmental regulations
Support the Company's development and implementation of Safety Management Systems as defined by API RP 1173
Document trends and make recommendations regarding opportunities for improvement to programs supporting Safety Management Systems
Initiate and support Safety Management Systems throughout the Company
Prepares specifications as needed to stock new material
Assist other departments in the preparation of requests for non-stock items to ensure that proper specifications and descriptions are used
Works closely with Supply Chain on strategic sourcing of materials
Supports the maintenance and distribution of the Company's material catalog
Maintains the history of material used for future needs (i.e., legal issues, long term performance, manufacturer recalls, etc.)
Assists with developing responses to all state Public Service Commission and PHMSA staff audit concerns

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
Bachelor's degree in engineering or business preferred
Professional Engineer license preferred
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
Knowledge of PHMSA and Public Service Commission Pipeline Safety Regulations
General knowledge and understanding of federal and state pipeline safety and integrity, employee safety and environmental safety regulations, and company standards and training programs
At least five years of relevant experience required
Advanced capabilities using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
