Description

As an Analyst within our Investments team, you will support the Onshore Renewables development functions in Canada and U.S. Reporting into the Manager, Investments, you will play a key role in preparing and managing project-level financial models for valuation, risk assessment, and cash flow evaluation purposes for various onshore renewables projects (solar, energy storage, onshore wind). You will also partake in other projects assigned to the team, which will involve leading the necessary analysis for the company to make various strategic decisions.

The position may require some travel to meet with Northland's regional development teams, the management teams of acquisition targets, financial advisors, and other external parties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage project-level financial models for valuation, risk assessment, and cash flow evaluation purposes.
  • Review and stress test financial models prepared by third parties and advisors.
  • Work with internal teams and various external technical consultants to source inputs required for modeling wind, solar and battery storage projects.
  • Assist in the coordination of due diligence, including: preparing questions for company management and external advisors, reviewing documentation, researching industry information, supporting the coordination of internal and external terms, and summarizing results.
  • Write investment memorandums and prepare presentations summarizing key findings from internal and external sources.
  • Translate financial analysis into concise recommendations.
  • Prepare analysis of energy market fundamentals across various jurisdictions within the team's assigned region.
  • Contribute to a variety of special projects on an ad hoc basis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in either Business, Economics, Finance or Engineering.
  • Understanding of financial modelling and valuation concepts including the ability to read financial statements and reports.
  • Working experience within the energy and infrastructure industries considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and experience with both data analysis and data presentation.
