Location: Hybrid remote within service area state 

(DE, PA, MD, OH, VA, NC, GA or FL)

Your role in our success:

The Manager, Operations Training leads a team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the operations and technical strategies and programs across the organization's internal and external audiences in cooperation with the organization's goals and objectives. The role is responsible for creating and evaluating new and existing training/learning programs and possesses the skills to analyze the impact of training programs to ensure the curriculum positively impacts the organization; ensures that all training conforms to Chesapeake's internal policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements; supports Business Units by maintaining the Natural Gas Operator Qualification (OQ) program and records; and coordinates across multiple departments, states and service territories, and effectively communicates at the field and executive
level.

What you'll be working on:

  • Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the operations and technical strategies and programs across the organization's internal and external audiences in cooperation with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that all training conforms to Chesapeake's internal policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements.
  • Creates and evaluates new and existing training/learning programs, possess the ability to analyze the impact of training programs to ensure the curriculum positively impacts the organization.
  • Leads and develops the Operations Training team in efforts to provide best in class programs.
  • Coordinates across multiple departments, states and service territories, and effectively communicates at the field and executive level.
  • Maintains the Natural Gas Operator Qualification (OQ) program and records. Manages and verifies data accuracy and timeliness in OQ verification system.
  • Develops and assesses measurable goals and objectives that advance the strategic framework for the team.
  • Engages with key stakeholders including the senior leadership team, operational leaders, shared services, and field employees providing both technical training and department updates.
  • Develops and maintains technical training facilities including Safety Town facilities in Dover, DE, Debary, FL, and numerous training locations throughout the service territory.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure operational and technical training is aligned with employee development expectations.
  • Supports regulatory compliance, public awareness, and incident response programs.
  • Participates in the Pipeline Safety Management System program and the Safety Data Management System.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources efforts to utilize and maintain the Learning Management System.
  • Participates in industry and technical associations to stay abreast of best practices and trends.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or education required, Master's Degree preferred 
  • Seven (7) years in any combination of utility, propane, or adult learning experience.
  • Valid Class E Driver's license
  • American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of utility or propane industry, field operations, and regulations governed by the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration and the Federal Motor Administration
  • Ability to lead/motivate in a diverse work group/environment
