BWXT Advanced Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Fuel Performance Engineer with materials expertise to advance the state-of-the-art fuel systems and materials for use in advanced reactor applications.

Job Description / Duties:
- Develop of advanced fuel forms (TRISO, etc.).
- Perform material selection and optimization of fuel material architecture.
- Develop manufacturing and test requirements/specifications.
- Provide materials engineering support for procurement and manufacturing of components.
- Evaluate feedback from in-pile testing.
- Develop technical approaches to support licensing.
- Support core design development.
- Support fuel performance modeling.
- Provide a strong interface with the BWXT's TRISO manufacturing team and with national laboratory partners in the development and testing of advanced fuel materials for various applications.
- Work with interdisciplinary team of engineers to ensure fuel and moderator solutions meet the overall objectives.
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Materials, Mechanical or similar discipline) is required.
- Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience.
- Experience in the nuclear field with a focus on advanced fuel material development and performance is required.
- Must possess an understanding of the interplay between reactor design, fuel development, advanced fuel materials, and fuel testing / qualification programs.
- Must possess excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
