Summary

We are actively seeking a seasoned Labor Relations Consultant who understands the intricacies of the electric utility sector and has a deep-rooted experience in dealing/partnering/bargaining with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). As the backbone of our industry, fostering transparent, productive, and harmonious relationships with our IBEW partners is paramount. Senior Principal - P5 - Subject Matter Expert:

  • Requires a recognized expert within the company.

  • Anticipates internal and or external business challenges and vendor and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product, or service improvements.

  • Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.

  • Progression to this level is restricted based on business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigations and Complaints - Leads preparation for arbitrations, litigation, or grievances. Coaches' executives, senior managers and others on investigation, grievance, and arbitration processes. Develops and implements workshops and other tools and materials for executives, managers, and others. Represents PGE in arbitrations and mediations.

  • Policy - Proactively identifies trends or business needs and develops enterprise-wide policy-related solutions. Analyzes highly complex issues related to contract or policy interpretation in situations for which there may be no precedent. Advises executives, managers, and others on policy-related issues. Monitors and analyzes current laws and regulations and ensures policies, benefit plans and agreements comply. Leads cross-functional initiatives to amend policies or create and implement new policies.

  • Contract Negotiation - Sets negotiation strategy for assigned negotiations. Leads all aspects of assigned contract negotiations. Negotiates assigned contracts and memorandums of understanding (MOUs).

  • Consultation and Subject Matter Expertise - Serves as the company expert on policy and contract interpretation. Provides strategic and innovative policy or contract solutions to managers and HRBPs.

  • Reporting and Analysis - Develops and monitors employee relations data and analysis. Analyzes data and trends and develops and implements initiatives to fill gaps.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Certifications     

Senior Principal: Bachelor's degree in business, psychology, sociology, finance, human resources or other related field or equivalent experience. Juris doctorate degree strongly preferred. 10 years of labor relations experience with first chair contract negotiations required. Multiple areas of human resources experience, such as benefits plan administration, employee relations, or equivalent combination of experience is strongly preferred. 

PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred. Other HR certifications a plus (e.g., CEBS, CBP, CCP).
