Job Brief

The Data Engineer and Platforms Lead will be responsible for the design, implementation, support, and evangelization of SRP's Analytics Hub and for guiding a group of highly performing developers from a variety of fields in support of those efforts.

As a team lead, the selected candidate will be very team-oriented and focused on achieving team goals. They will be comfortable leading others, providing information and direction so that team members can do their jobs and make accurate decisions. They will be solution-driven, working with business customers at all levels of an organization, and will welcome accountability.

The successful candidate will have a keen sense of intellectual curiosity and creativity in relation to using data in new ways that provide value for SRP as well as being highly conversant in the analytics culture and the changing landscape of tools and services that enable data-based value. They will be able to recommend, plan, and enact improvements in environment architecture, efficiency, and controls to improve the overall user experience related to data and analytics at SRP and to advance SRP's vision for Information Management.

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal communication skills and will be able to speak persuasively about analytics, data lake and data warehousing concepts, data modeling, metric identification and development, and effective data visualization techniques.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the performance, management, and growth of the Analytics Hub

  • Guiding the Analytics Data Platform Modernization project  
  • Developing architectural and environmental strategies
  • Directing others in the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of new solutions
  • Ensuring data is secured properly and that backups and safeguards are in place
  • Monitoring the performance of solutions and planning for growth
  • Enhancing the Analytics Hub with new technologies and services

Responsible for leading a team of Analytics professionals

  • Understanding work efforts and efficiently distributing the workload across the team
  • Providing performance feedback to team members
  • Guiding and enabling the professional growth of team members
  • Determining needed team skills and leading staffing and hiring efforts to acquire them

Responsible for maintaining the ACE's position of expertise for:

  • Data Warehousing
  • Data Analysis
  • Data Modeling
  • Industry Best Practice Knowledge
  • Metric/KPI Identification and Development

Responsible for maintaining the ACE's collaborative partnerships with other IT Groups and Business Units

  • Consulting and advising on the effective use of data, analytics, and technology
  • Participation in SRP's Analytics Community

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Seven years of experience.

Additional Information

The following is required:
5+ years of demonstrated experience architecting, developing, and/or managing the implementation of Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions
Experience performing activities and leading others in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle
A working understanding of Cloud Data Warehousing concepts and how they fit within an overall Analytics architecture. 
A proven track record of relationship building with IT and non-IT resources at all levels
Experience with troubleshooting issues and working with vendor support when required
Experience working in a support environment, monitoring incidents and requests, and maintaining service level agreements (SLA)

Experience with Azure Services such as Data Factory or ADLS
Experience writing complex SQL queries  
Experience with SAP BusinessObjects and SAP BW

Experience with server administration and maintenance 
Experience with Data Cataloging and Documentation and tools such as Navigator and Collibra
Experience with Hadoop services such as HDFS, Hive, Spark, Impala, and Oozie
Ability to independently set priorities and spend time on what's important
An understanding of a wide variety of SRP Business Areas and work processes
Experience with SRP's Common Information Model.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
