Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Business Planning Analyst is to serve as a trusted adviser in the corporate Business Planning process. This includes all business planning activities for CPS Energy in support of the Enterprise Planning Process, including integration and alignment with multiple areas of the enterprise that include: Strategic Planning, Risk Management, Financial / Budget Planning; and Performance Management. Responsibilities of this Analyst include, but are not limited to, providing enterprise and business unit level services to facilitate the design, development, and implementation of the enterprise and business unit business plans and the tracking of business unit performance and target achievement through periodic metric and initiative reports and analysis.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide analysis, consultation, recommendations, reporting, and support to the business units to promote quality products and services.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison between Business Planning and business units throughout the organization.
- Demonstrate and apply business insights including, but not limited to:
- business unit function (e.g. mission, SWOT, people, process, technology);
- performance management (metrics, initiatives, and milestones); and
- benchmarking and historical data.
- Effectively coordinate and facilitate various meetings related to Business Planning.
- Lead the annual development and continuous maintenance of the two-year business plan for all business units. Ensure each unit's plan correlates to the strategic themes of the organization, integrates with other business unit plans, and is aligned with aligned with the Enterprise Planning Process.
- Support the quarterly status report-out of each unit's business plan by:
- facilitating the development of each unit's Quarterly Report Meeting (QRM) presentation package;
- facilitating the review of the data for quality and accuracy;
- providing advice and feedback to the business units prior to the review session;
- facilitating the meetings as needed; and
- capturing and publishing the action items resulting from each meeting.
- Support the monthly status report-out of each unit's business plan by facilitating the corporate-wide update of the Corporate Metric Tracking (CMT) system and reviewing the data for quality and accuracy, including:
- quality assurance and analytic evaluation of metric data to ensure consistency, timeliness, accuracy, and an independent assessment of progress toward the achievement of business unit targets;
- troubleshooting and resolving report issues; and
- researching, evaluating, and implementing a new or revamped reporting system solution.
- Support the incentive plan verification process, as needed.
- Support the creation and maintenance of business planning documentation and communicate changes to all appropriate stakeholders to continuously improve the process.
- Ensure integration with strategic planning, risk planning & mitigation, business planning, budget processes, and performance management for all business units throughout the organization.
- Lead and/or support process improvement initiatives that enhance operational, technology and cost efficiency, providing services geared toward solving near-term and long-term problems.
- Perform other duties and serve on special project teams as assigned.
