PSE's Corporate Communications team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Communications Initiatives Program Mgr position!

Job Description

Responsible for the management of the communications and/or public outreach components of high profile company projects or initiatives. The position will primarily support PSE's public improvement teams, delivering communications and public outreach plans for electric and natural gas infrastructure projects.They will provide input to the strategic plan of the assigned project(s) or initiative and deliver communications and/or outreach elements of the plan.

The Communications Initiatives Program Manager will coordinate with the public affairs and technical staff working on the project, initiative or issue, and will provide input into the strategic planning process and implementation of the assigned project(s). Through cross-functional collaboration and excellent team building/management, this position will be a key project team member and proactively clarify and challenge expectations and assumptions about each initiative and issue reflecting the customer perspective.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements communication components and/or public outreach of strategic company projects, initiatives and issues, providing support to other initiative teams as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities to evolve PSE's communication strategies and approaches, including new technology, engagement strategies and processes.
  • Performs emergency and storm duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Engaging directly with customers, answering questions and acting as a liaison between the customer and project teams.
  • Coordinating with internal groups to ensure information is being shared to customer-facing employees and cohesive public outreach strategies and plans are developed.
  • Producing communications collateral, and implementing communications tools.
  • Acting as a customer advocate. Raising issues on the customers' behalf, and working with the Project Managers to address customer concerns.
  • Ability to work occasional nights or weekends as needed.
  • Assisting in the development, coordination, and implementation of the project plan. This includes the communications, public affairs and technical components of the project or initiatives providing support to other project/initiative team members as needed.  Must understand the overall goal and strategy of the plan, as well as how the tactics interconnect.
  • Assisting in the drafting of project documents such as Project Implementation Plans (PIP).
  • Assisting in managing and answering customer questions in coordination with outreach and customer care team members.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, media, business innovation, marketing, strategic leadership/management or related field, and 5 years relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in managing increasingly complex projects with cross-functional teams and in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage projects, work with other departmental teams and deliver on commitments.
  • Ability to contribute effectively in peer management teams.
  • Skills and experience in collaboration and team building.
  • Practical and successful application of community or employee engagement strategies and tactics including the use of new media applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with community outreach and comfort with engaging directly with customers.
  • Extremely detail oriented. Ability to track project status for multiple projects.
  • Ability to raise issues and concerns in a respectful and collaborative manner.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable working through conflict.
  • Ability to problem-solve and be creative when working with Project Managers and teams to find solutions on behalf of our customers.
  • Strong focus on customer service.
  • Experience working in a team-based organizational structure.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to operate in a remote office with leadership at corporate headquarters.
  • Light graphic design.
  • Experience coordinating and/or managing relationships with outside vendors.
  • Marketing/sales experience.
  • Broad knowledge of gas and electric utility rates, business objectives, to include operations, customer service, finance, and corporate relations.
