JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Human Performance.

Reporting to the Director Operations & Maintenance - Darlington Refurbishment, this position is responsible to develop and implement a comprehensive Human & Organizational Performance Improvement Program for the Refurbishment Project. 

Key accountabilities include providing recommendations on human and organization improvement strategies, plans and process improvements required to support achieving performance targets, and long term human performance improvements.

This will involve developing Human Performance strategic initiatives to drive continuous improvement throughout the Darlington Refurbishment project. This will also include working collaboratively with multiple vendor partners to develop proactive strategies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide supports and monitor all human performance management processes as well as the implementation of human performance initiatives on behalf of the Director, Operations & Maintenance.
  • Coach and mentor leadership staff to promote the principles of human performance.
  • Support the development project specific human performance indicators to enable management to effectively monitor results and make the necessary changes to promote Human Performance Improvement.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies such as Institute of Nuclear Power Operators (INPO), World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) and industry peers in order to accelerate Ontario Power Generation, Nuclear's (OPG,N's) progress in Human Performance.
  • Empower managers and supervisors with tools, tactics and approaches to improve human and organization performance.
  • Oversee and assist in the development and delivery of training to promote human and organizational performance principles.
  • Carry-out benchmarking initiatives in support of excellence in human and organization performance for mega projects.
  • Support leadership teams in the integration of the Human Performance plan with the performance improvement model.
  • Develop, maintain, perform and monitor audits/assessment and/or self-assessments to identify improvement opportunities.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Certification in Human Performance Improvement (HPI) and/or Human Factors and Organizational Behaviour or Organizational Design.
  • Continuous Improvement certification (LEAN, Six Sigma or other) would be considered an asset. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience driving high human and organizational performance improvements in a high risk industry through human factors, organizational effectiveness and quality; 
  • Human Performance and/or Human Factors and Organizational Behaviour experience; 
  • Strategic change management experience;
  • Proven track record on delivering results, and the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities; 
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges;
  • Broad conceptual, diagnostic, and analytical skills; ability to reach well-grounded, independent conclusions and influence outcomes; 
  • Experience in developing and delivering workshops and training;
  • Experience in program and strategy development and execution;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong facilitation, negotiation, influencing, and presentation skill; and
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
