Summary
The PMDS Engineering Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and technical support to the Project Management and Design Services (PMDS) organization. Participates in analytics projects that require strong knowledge of data visualization, cross-functional business processes, and enterprise data management. Primary focus areas are in geospatial data and complex data transformation.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Delivers actionable information using large data sets - interpreting data, identifying patterns, and making correlations
- Works with data owners to develop meaningful visualizations for a variety of applications
- Proactively plans, analyzes and monitors data to achieve corporate goals and drive improvements
- Seeks alignment between PMDS, Operations, Technology, and other partners for data solutions
- Develops a deep understanding of Oncor's technology solutions, and maintains an understanding of changing technology and its impact on Oncor
- Conducts special studies, summarizes information, and makes recommendations as required
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements
- May require up to 25% travel
Education, Experience, & Skills
The minimum education and experience requirements are:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required with 4-6 years of experience in the electric utility industry or computer science fields, or
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 2-4 years of electric utility experience
The minimum skill requirements are:
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong team building and collaborative leadership skills to build consensus solutions
- Knowledge of Oncor Transmission, Distribution, and Information Technology systems
- Knowledge of integrating and sharing data across multiple platforms
- Understanding of relational databases and the ability to write complex queries
- Understanding of web and mobile application design techniques
- Experience with off-the-shelf reporting tools such as Cognos and Tableau
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, EDW, DIS/WMIS, CC&B, and Hexagon products preferred
- Proven ability to learn new methods, techniques and software as needed to accomplish tasks
- Promote and actively participate in safe work practices
- Express ideas and concepts in individual or group situations, including presenting to large audiences
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
