Summary
This position develops, revises, delivers and evaluates assigned training courses throughout the service territory that meet Company needs and comply with applicable requirements and regulations using effective instructional methods and technologies. (May require up to 50% travel throughout the year.)
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others with minimal assistance or supervision, the incumbent:
Staff:
- Plans, coordinates, delivers, and documents assigned training activities in a safe and professional manner using effective adult learning principles and evaluates learner skills and knowledge.
- Develops and revises assigned training courses.
- Performs training needs analysis to identify job performance and training needs.
- Assists in the development of a cost-effective training schedule, manages assigned training classes to meet client needs and minimize the impact to their work schedule, and adjusts the schedule as needed.
- Assists in the construction/maintenance of training facilities (e.g., pole climbing training facilities).
Senior: (In addition to the above)
- Provides training, coaching, guidance, and leadership to less-experienced Operations Training employees and guest instructors.
- Manages employees and contractors in construction/maintenance of training facilities (e.g., pole climbing training facilities).
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish, develop and manage effective working relationships with employees, management, vendors, contractors, and customers and foster and implement effective teamwork, problem solving, and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong skills and abilities in adult learning and training delivery are a plus for Staff applicants and a required for Senior applicants.
Education and Experience
- Knowledgeable of and competent in application of current technical and craft theories and techniques within appropriate discipline.
Staff:
- Associates degree in a related field (e.g., Applied Science of Electrical/Electronics Technology) and 4 years of overhead and/or underground linework experience in Distribution or Transmission or 5 years of overhead and/or underground linework experience in Distribution or Transmission
- One year of instructor-led and/or on-the-job training experience required. (e.g., professional trainer or instructor, guest instructor for craft/technical training, medic first aid, safety training, etc.)
- Applicants with formal instructor training are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants with a CDL Class A license are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants with strong skills and abilities in adult learning and training delivery encouraged to apply.
Senior:
- Associates degree in a related field (e.g., Applied Science of Electrical/Electronics Technology) and 5 years of overhead and/or underground linework experience in Distribution or Transmission or 6 years of overhead and/or underground linework experience in Distribution or Transmission
- Three years of instructor-led and/or on-the-job training experience required. (e.g., professional trainer or instructor, guest instructor for craft/technical training, medic first aid, safety training, etc.)
- Formal instructor training or certification is required.
- CDL Class A license required.
Measures of Success
- Develops and delivers safe, effective, relevant, technically accurate, and innovative performance-based training that meets Company needs and complies with applicable requirements and regulations.
- Collaborates and coordinates work activities with other functions, clients, peers, experts, and others as needed to provide assigned training.
- Maintains applicable technical and craft certifications/qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
