Department Summary:

The Consumers Energy Operations Compliance and Controls team is responsible for providing enterprise wide support, leadership, strategy, and execution on key initiatives. As a member of this dynamic Team, the successful candidate will be involved at the onset of many new and exciting Company projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

This position will lead the configuration, adminstration, and execution of the Remote Inspection program - along with other OC&C and Consumers Energy projects. This role will have autonomy to see and fix problems, and to originate new and unique soultions. Direct oversight of ESRI platforms and the ability to configure and create complex systems is critical. 

  • Design, configure, and publish GIS feature layers and forms to ArcGIS Online.
  • Builds and manages groups and users in ArcGIS Online.
  • Leads strategy for use of tools, applications, web apps, and other market available or custom configured solutions to meet the needs of the company.
  • Train and build training documentation for end users.
  • Consults and aligns with internal and external clients to build partnership, grow collaborations, and gain synergies within and for the project.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in applicable field.  Less than a Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.

1 Year of GIS Platform and Application administration or configuration - with 4 Years preferred.

The Technical Analyst Job Family is utilized throughout the Company, including, but not limited to: technical analysis, technical negotiations, technical transactions, customer service/relations, finance, cash management, materials management/supply chain, project management, records management, risk management, marketing, planning/scheduling and strategic planning

Nature of Work

The essence of the work that is performed by the Technical Analyst Job Family is a wide variety of technical functions, at times involving very specific technical disciplines.

At the lowest level in this job family, the work performed may tend to be of a routine and less complex nature where the work responsibilities can be proficiently performed after a relatively short training period.  At this level the employee is more likely to be able to move to different functional areas of the Company.

At the highest levels in this job family the work performed will tend to be of a complex nature involving knowledge of various functional/specialized disciplines where the work responsibilities can only be proficiently performed after a relatively long training / experience-related time period.  The work environment often includes dealing with risk and limiting exposure.

Leadership, management, facilitation and interaction with senior management will be markedly increased at the mid - highest levels of this job family while the need for direction and supervision will be markedly decreased.  While problem solving and analysis will likely be required at all levels, recommendation and implementation becomes the norm at the highest levels and will often have a major bearing on the company's operations.  In addition, skills such as the ability to think on your feet, composure under fire and effective communication across all levels of the organization and with outside customers/clients become more finely honed at the higher levels.

Essential Functions:

General technical analysis supports the planning, technical analysis, general management, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of technical and business functions and technical processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the company. Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices. Lead and/or assist with technical support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observation, and field investigation. Provide technical, non-engineering support services with accuracy, on time and under budget. Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare technical support documents. Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects. Become familiar with business and technical plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately.  Assists in client contact and communication. Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public.  Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders.  Attend internal and external meetings.  Provide technical support services in a legal and ethical manner.  Regular attendance is expected.
