The employee in this classification is responsible to research, develop, recommend, monitor and implement highly specialized and/or technical programs and/or functions for the corporation. This position may be responsible to conduct field studies and investigations into issues that have potential impact on SaskPower's operations and the Province of Saskatchewan.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Work with government regulatory agencies, boards, communities and/or interest groups to develop programs to mitigate environmental, resource and other impacts of SaskPower's operations
Plan and conduct program management, technical and/or environmental impact assessments and management programs as it relates to the area of expertise
As a subject matter expert, assist and/or lead the development of corporate standards and provide support to all areas of SaskPower
Provide expert advice and assistance to the Corporation
Utilize professional judgment to make informed decisions regarding mitigation options and preventative measures related to SaskPower and Provincial resources
Identify, research and monitor emerging issues that could impact SaskPower's operations
Assist with environmental and heritage resource studies for new projects and corporate initiatives
Represent SaskPower on working groups, interest groups, communities and public forums on related issues
Promote and comply with all Corporate, Provincial and Federal regulations
Travel province wide as required by the position
Participate in continuous educational and professional development as required
Other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Certified Utility Arborist (CUA), or Certified Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT), or equivalent
Ability to obtain the International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Utility Specialist (ISAUS)
Five (5) years of related utility experience
Knowledge of related Provincial and Federal Acts, regulations and legislations
Demonstrated research, analysis and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated organizational, coordination and project management skills
Ability to take initiatives and to lead and motivate people
Ability to forecast and predict budget requirements
Valid Class 5 driver's licence, as required by the position
This positions falls with in the scope of the Unifor Local 649.
