Key leader in engineering organization responsible for overseeing development and implementation of the Company's strategic initiatives with respect to grid modernization technologies that support electric distribution system operations across the three-state service territory. Initiatives include but are not limited to improving advanced load flow system planning modeling and forecasting tools; distribution management system (DMS); distributed energy resource management system (DERMS); Volt VAR optimization; technologies designed to increase system hosting capacity; and other improvements to enhance the Company's capabilities with respect to real time system operations. Individual will lead a team engineers and outside services working directly on project implementation. Role will also include coordinating activities across the Company, working collaboratively with functions such as information technology, system operations, protection and control engineering, system planning, field operations, customer care, and organizational change management. Responsibilities will also include engagement with external counterparts and stakeholders to ensure the Company is leveraging and contributing to industry best practices.
Essential Functions:
- Lead rigorous analysis to initiate new initiatives aimed at enhancing the Company's grid modernization capabilities. Ensure Company's grid modernization strategic priorities are responsive to industry developments and continue to maximize value over time, capturing new opportunities as they emerge.
- Oversee development of project plans for strategic initiatives (scope, schedule and budget). Present proposals and gain senior executive level approval.
- Direct project implementation activities, working collaboratively with internal and external resources. Identify and mitigate risks to successful project completion.
- Recommend resource strategy to support implementation activities for DMS, DERMS and other projects, including coordination with information technology, system operations and other supporting functions.
- Play a leadership role across the Company to ensure the effective coordination of major operational technology projects across multiple disciplines.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to leverage the Company's strengths and opportunities to motivate cross-functional participation in the grid modernization project implementation.
- Direct teams of internal and external resources to ensure grid modernization strategic and operational goals are achieved efficiently and effectively.
- Provide input and operational perspective to the regulatory group to support development of advocacy positions on key energy policies.
- Participate in industry forums to support the Company's position contributing to industry best practices in grid modernization.
