DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management, this position is accountable for leading the Asset Information team in continuing to improve asset information systems, process, and supporting tools. The supervising engineer will be responsible for developing strategies for long term asset data stewardship and curation.  This includes a wholistic approach to managing data related to assets over the entire lifecycle of the asset - creation through to and including removal.  An important part of the role is to aid the organization in accessing and using data throughout operations and maintenance to support decision making processes.  This position will lead a capable team of professionals to implement this plan. The supervisor will develop business justifications and support plans to transition these new system, processes, and tools into operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a group comprised of engineers, and data analysts and support personnel who support data stewardship and curation across the entire Electricity business
  • Continually innovate and mature data governance, data quality, data access and decision-making tools and processes
  • Ensure the team continues to provide improved reporting, analytics, and auditing services for its internal customers
  • Participate in and lead Asset Management improvement and upgrade projects (e.g. Maximo in the cloud)
  • Continue to support stakeholders and Asset Management team in driving forward advanced maintenance, asset performance management, and decision-making processes utilizing asset data. Continue to lead or support stakeholder teams through the process of realizing value
  • In consultation with stakeholders, drive forward improved online monitoring utilizing the Enterprise Historian, IoT, or other systems for improved asset management and operational situational awareness
  • Provide leadership for improvements to mobile tools that improve field worker user experience, health & safety, and participation in asset management (e.g. ATCO ForSite)
  • Provide support for regulatory application process (GTA & PBR), including developing business cases, responding to Information Requests and providing support for Omissions & Updates filings including witness preparation
  • Support new opportunity proposal development from an Asset Management perspective

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Diploma in Technology with 10-15 years of utility experience
  • Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee designation
  • 5-8 year of experience in a senior and/or leadership role
  • Knowledge of asset information management and business planning, Transmission & Distribution (T&D) SCADA and a comprehensive knowledge of T&D assets and operations
  • Understanding of a regulated utility business environment
  • Good knowledge of ATCO's current Asset Management technology including Maximo, ESRI, Historian, etc. 
  • Understanding of programming and practices is an asset
  • Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Facilitation skills to gather subject matter expertise and work toward consensus in the development of strategy framework and/or scope of work
  • Demonstrated experience in aligning utility decision making processes against ISO 55000
