Lead Engineer: $107,900 - $143,800 - $179,800
Principal Engineer: $112,500 - $150,000 - $187,500
Job Specific Functions:
The Engineering Programs Engineer assists in ensuring continued reliability and longevity of the four Wolf Creek Steam Generators. Various responsibilities include, but are not limited to, owning and implementing associated program procedures and the Steam Generator Asset Management Plan, Chairing associated team meetings, implementing regulatory and industry guidelines, and participating in associated EPRI committees.
Similarly, the Engineer will be responsible for ownership and implementation of the protective coatings program which satisfies associated licensing and regulatory requirements in accordance with procedural guidance.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Health Reporting
Planning, Scheduling and implementation of the steam generator management plan including
o Chairing the SG Asset Team
o Managing the SG HIT
Trending and Monitoring of SG performance
Participating on EPRI SG Technical Advisory and Research Integration Committees
Review and implementation of Procedures, Industry Standards/Guidelines and Operating Experience
Obtaining necessary qualifications and performing periodic program assessments
Assisting the organization with the implementation and maintenance of plant coatings
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management
Education and Experience Requirements:
The Engineer I position requires a BS degree in Engineering.
The Engineer II position requires a BS degree in Engineering and two years relevant experience.
The Staff Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and four years relevant experience.
The Senior Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and eight years of relevant experience and registered engineering in training (EIT) or board recognized industry certification preferred.
The Lead Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and fourteen or more years of relevant experience and a Kansas Professional Engineer License is preferred.
The Principal Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering, a Kansas Professional Engineer License, twenty or more years of Engineering experience in specific areas of engineering and an Advanced technical degree is preferred. This level is used on a limited basis.
Relevant experience for these positions is defined as professional level experience in engineering, engineering support or nuclear plant operations and support. The incumbent must possess engineering expertise related to either mechanical or chemical engineering.
Curriculum must be accredited by the accreditation board for engineering and technology (ABET): Any other baccalaureate engineering curriculum that has not been accredited by ABET but has been evaluated and found to be of an equivalent standard that may be reviewed and accepted by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions is acceptable.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
This position requires the ability to: read, analyze, and interpret the complex documents; make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, and/or boards of directors.
This position requires the ability to: comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory; work with concepts such as limits, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
This position requires the ability to: apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases; deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
