Position Purpose

Gain experience and exposure to practical engineering applications within the utility industry. Individual normally works under close supervision; performs a variety of projects that have specific instructions and expected results. 
 
Seeking Electrical Engineering majors only to work Full Time (40 hours) during the Summer 2020 semester (May - August) and part time (~15-20 hours/week) during the spring 2020 semester. Must be currently enrolled in school full-time, pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

Required Education & Experience

Available part time during the spring 2020 semester; and full time during the summer.
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree and have completed sophomore year with declared major in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 2.50 GPA

Job Description

Operations Center Distribution Engineering:  Co-op will be immersed in increasing levels of responsibility regards the design, construction, maintenance, and protection of the electrical distribution system; this will include hands-on opportunities to learn theories on overhead and underground systems, overcurrent protection, line capacitor installation, and other power quality and electrical service initiatives.  Co-op will split time between fieldwork and computer applications.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.
  • Gathers, correlates, and analyzes specific data using established procedures.
  • Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests and analysis.
  • Performs a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual's familiarization with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the Company.
  • Supports operating and maintenance functions with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, problem identification, problem resolution activities.
  • Assists Senior Engineers and/or Engineer I, II and III with large projects, as needed.
  • Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs and procedures.
  • Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
  • Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
  • Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management
