What Are We Looking For?
FortisAlberta is looking for a Manager Procurement and Contracts who has demonstrated success in providing an effective procurement and contracts function including the provision of overall governance, direction and strategy. The Manager will establish and manage procurement and contracts standards, best practices and processes.
Reporting to the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the Manager Procurement and Contracts will provide procurement advice on the selection of vendors, establishing compliant payment terms, strategic vetting, the negotiation of contracts and purchasing of goods. They will also provide contract management advice to the organization, ensuring that arrangements are in place for effective contract management including ensuring parties meet contractual obligations, the identification and management of risks, and the implementation of robust financial and operational controls.

The ability to manage procurement of supplies, material and equipment costs effectively while maintaining consistent quality and proficient delivery of service requests.
Technical and professional guidance, leadership and coaching to the Procurement & Contracts Team.
Strong leadership and relationship building skills and a high level of professionalism, integrity and objectivity.
Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple and diverse projects concurrently.
The ability to apply professional judgment in leading daily activities, solving problems, and providing leadership and expertise.
A strong customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, confidentiality with team members and internal and external stakeholders; this includes excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
The ability to manage and maintain departmental budgets, inventory levels, labour material, current material usage, forecasting, Material Resource Planning (MRP), inventory turns and carrying costs.
Proven ability to lead and work within a team environment; this includes engaging cross-functional teams of internal and external participants and stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail in order to produce procurement processes and contracts with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
Other Qualifications we are looking for:
A Degree or Diploma in a related discipline plus a minimum of 10 years of related experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
A Supply Chain Management designation (CCLP, SCMP, CSCP, CPIM, SCOR-P, CPSM, CPSD, CSCMP, CPL, CPCM).
Supervisory experience in a dynamic work environment.
Demonstrated experience in procurement and contracts including financial, material services, contracts, and purchasing functions.
Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, would be an asset.
Demonstrated ability in using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SAP and SuccessFactors would be considered an asset.
Special Conditions:
Valid Class 5 drivers permit
Travel within Alberta with possible overnight stays is a requirement of this position.
