Job Summary

This position aligns GIS technology solutions with Electric Transmission (ET) business strategies by partnering with functional groups within the ET organization to identify and clarify business needs participating in the development and prioritization of long-range ET GIS plans.

Informs, trains, and advises all ET functional groups on the use of GIS web and mobile applications.

Informs and advises ET leadership on geospatial information system technologies, functionalities, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements.

Collaborates with GIS Services, IT and PMO to develop, manage, and adhere to a written plan with firm timeframes, target dates and milestones for the Electric Transmission business unit on GIS projects or initiatives.

Establishes and documents workflows where they do not exist and acts as a process manager to ensure interdepartmental roles and responsibilities are followed (internal to ET) as it pertains to GIS.

Evaluates specific data, map or custom application requests and makes recommendations based on identified resource needs.

Manages the CWR process for ET GIS schema changes, automated script processes, ArcMap MXD updates for Citrix XenApp, Web Application development or updates, and Mobile application configuration updates by coordinating with IT and GIS Services through the timely completion of each request.

Serves as a technical expert for ET GIS users and provides insight into program behavior and potential solutions for unexpected behavior and results. Develops and oversees all processes associated with database maintenance as well as, mobile applications ensuring that data being captured in the field is updating to the enterprise database.

Represents ET at GIS-related industry conferences and meetings, to stay current on the latest technologies.

Works with IT and GIS Services to support GIS system outages and testing due to patching or updates.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

5+ years experience using GIS technology and tools that are specific to the utility industry (in addition to a Bachelor's degree or its equivalency in demonstrated related experience),  Formal GIS-related training strongly preferred, Strong organizational and project management skills and evaluation techniques, General knowledge of electric transmission systems, Interpersonal skills: Excellent customer service, teambuilding, verbal and written communication skills, Problem resolution skills, Ability to address multiple tasks simultaneously,Ability to handle changing and emerging priorities,Self-starter, Ability to create and map processes,Leadership and mentoring traits, Analytical and detail-oriented, Proven decision making skills, Change management skills, Proven ability to interface with business partners to understand needs and develop business processes to solve challenges, Proven ability to work with all levels of employees and to influence and impact others, Demonstrated organization and planning skills, including the coordination of assigned projects, planning, scheduling, and time management.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Business, Computer Science, Information Science, Geographical Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Technical Studies,Geographic Science, Computer Engineering
