Prepares, examines, or analyzes accounting records and financial statements. Analyzes and reports on business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations. Establishes, maintains and coordinates accounting and accounting control policies and procedures.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
Level 1
- Performs all work according to applicable rules and regulations including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and organization policies and procedures
- Assists in maintaining and coordinating accounting control policies and procedures
- Generates timely standard reports such as balance sheets and profit and loss statements
- Assists with the monthly and annual close process by completing assigned accounting functions and making appropriate and accurate journal entries
- Reconciles general ledger accounts in a timely manner and research and reports material reconciling issues to management
- May perform various accounting functions such as fixed assets, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing
- Assists with periodic internal and external audits including the annual external audit of ERCOT financial statements
- Contributes to accounting system maintenance, upgrade and conversion efforts
- Maintains regular communication with the management team, providing relevant fiscal information to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
Level 2 & 3 - Above +
- Works on moderately complex accounting issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
- Trains and mentors less experience co-workers assigned by Lead
- Takes a significant role in preparing for ERCOT's annual financial audit
- Ensures accurate data in closing the general ledger and subsystems each month and in producing accounting reports for management
- Demonstrates skills as a proficient user of client server financial systems, spreadsheet programs, and database programs
- Reviews, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, appropriateness and reasonableness
- Reviews account reconciliations and periodically conduct audits
- Conducts research and provides accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to ensure appropriate treatment
- Key contributor to accounting system upgrades and conversion efforts and maintains relationship with information technology staff
- Maintains regular communication with the management team, providing relevant fiscal information to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
- Builds strong professional relationships both internally and externally
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Level 1: No minimum work experience required
- Level 2: Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- Level 3: Requires minimum 3 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
Salary and level will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree : Accounting, Finance or related field (Required)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
CERTIFICATION
- CPA Certified Public Accountant (Preferred)
